We searched Còrdoba’s Walmart for winter coats for Alistair. The selection was terrible (what can you expect when it is 75 degrees and you are hoping a store carries clothing for 0 degrees?), but we finally found one- a little big as you can see, along with hat and mittens. Now we just have to remember to put pants on him!

I hope you have high speed internet

Christmas photos! (sorry so late with them Meme!)

I made sugar cookies to give away. Alistair “helped” decorate them. He got a little upset because his hands got all sticky.

We celebrated my birthday at a beautiful restaurant in Orizaba. Alistair gave me a birthday kiss.

Christmas Eve, we were invited to dinner at Claudia’s. We didn’t eat until 11pm, but it was a delicious meal. Alistair had a great time playing with Zuri.

Christmas morning was just as much fun as it is supposed to be! Alistair was very excited about pulling out the goodies from his stocking.

Also very exciting- his sunglasses and car!

And here he is today with his friends and a messy mouth.

This guy is going to be a big brother come June! I am about 17 weeks along and already popping out. I am so glad that morning sickness (daily vomiting, bouts of crying in the morning at the nauseating thought of entering the kitchen, leaving my shopping cart in the middle of the aisle to go running to the the grocery store bathroom to throw up, etc) has pretty much passed.

We leave in a week for the States. I am looking forward to the trip, but not to the cold weather.

Hope you all have had a merry Christmas and have a great New Year!

It has been a busy busy past few days.

The processions and all that goes with them have died down since the 12th, oh so thankfully. The night leading up to the 12th was madness. I do not ever want to go through that again. More than just the noise, was the unnerving knowledge that out there on the street are hoards of people who know that you (the foreigners in their town) are not participating with their celebration of Guadalupe. So when the pounding started on the front door at 4am, I confess to thinking “this is it, we’re going to Jesus.” Sirens were also going, so after the initial shock, we realized it was the police, which was still not all that comforting since police here are not exactly known for their law-abiding ways. Adam had made a white noise maker, and simply said, “ignore them, whatever they want can wait until a decent hour” and turned up the noise maker. They continued pounding for awhile, then left and came back later to knock louder and put all the sirens on. I could not wait until morning.

In the morning, they were decorating the streets and we saw our car was gone from it’s parking spot outside of the house. Adam had figured the police wanted him to move it. Since they got no answer from the house, they towed it to a side street we later discovered. No problem.

The main street was covered with fine white stone, with red flowers stretching from the beginning to end of town. It looked beautiful. We then got out of town for the day…grocery shopping in Cordoba, playing Settler’s of Caanan at Marcus and Jennifer’s…etc. We got back around 10pm to a quiet town.

Saturday, we went to the our first ever Mexican wedding. I was excited, because I have been waiting a long time to finally go to one. Jennifer told me later not to assume that this wedding is what all Mexican weddings are like, since it was very out of the ordinary.

Mary, the mother of the groom Samuel (he used to work with Adam and Marcus), stirring the big pot of mole.

Mole up close. I usually don’t care for mole (and let me tell you, I’ve eaten quite a bit over the years here), but Mary’s mole was actually really good.

The happy couple. The wedding was supposed to start at 1pm. Not many people had showed up by 2pm, but they decided to start anyway. New guests were still arriving at 5pm.

Eder and Alejandro- two guys who work with Adam and Marcus. They also go by “the skinny one and the fat one.”

Alistair fooling around with the boys in the back trying to whistle with weeds.

So that has been our exciting past few days. Friday, miracle of miracles, we actually have another wedding to attend.

Here is a very large fly I found outside.
